The face of gaming has changed considerably since the time games were first launched. Back then, controlling the movements of a few basic shapes became a great source of entertainment. Today, things are a lot different and no one can surely predict the way of the future. Most of the people today play games on either one or on all of the dominant platforms: Sony’s PlayStation, Microsoft’s Xbox, Nintendo’s Wii or the humble Personal Computer. Other features that have changed the way people enjoy games include multiplayer online gaming where one can compete with players from around the world. This ability to cut through national and cultural borders is astounding. Games have also evolved at a very brisk pace to an extent where it’s hard to believe that people enjoyed those yesteryear games with average graphics. As for the future, it will be interesting to see if a saturation point is reached or if games graduate to almost lifelike realism.
